Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is dry skin?
  • Dry skin is one of four skin types and can be the result of genetics, a dry environment, inadequate hydration, cold or dry weather, sun damage, harsh soaps or cleansers, overbathing, aging skin or medication. Sisley-Paris has developed targeted skin care products designed to provide comfort, support nourishment and help preserve the balance of dry and fragile skin while improving the look of suppleness.

  • How do you know if you have dry skin?
  • If you think you have dry skin here are some signs and symptoms: Firstly, skin has a rough, dry texture and skin flakes are common. When the skin is dry and lacking moisture it begins to flake off causing cracks in the skin. Another symptom of dry skin is itchy, painful, burning, or skin that is sensitive to touch. If none of these symptoms apply to you can do an at-home test to help you understand your skin type better. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry. After 30 mins if your skin feels tight, flaky, or scaly then you most likely have dry skin.

  • Why is it important to keep skin hydrated?
  • In general, hydrated skin appears plumper, healthier, and has a more youthful glow. However, while the immediate effects of hydrated skin are great from a cosmetic standpoint, skin's elasticity will improve and the appearance of wrinkles will be decreased from daily moisturizing. To test to see if your skin is hydrated, pinch a small amount of skin on your cheek, chest, knuckles, or back of your hand. If the skin quickly snaps back into place, you are likely hydrated. If it takes a few moments for the skin to settle back in place, the skin might be dehydrated.
