Velvet Nourishing Cream with Saffron Flowers

The formula

The Saffron flowers used in our Saffron flower extract are grown in France in the Limousin region and organically certified. They are hand-picked as soon as they open to optimize their freshness. The pistils are used as a spice, while the petals are recovered in turn.

For its Buckwheat seed extract, Sisley has chosen an organically certified Breton buckwheat (Brittany Protected Geographical Indication). Buckwheat is a “green manure” used in phytoremediation, a decontamination (of soil, water or air) method using plants. It is also a melliferous plant: its flowers are highly appreciated by bees for food.

The Shea butter selected by Sisley is obtained by hot-pressing Shea nuts from Burkina Faso. It comes from a fair trade channel: the nuts are only harvested once the fruit has fallen to the ground to respect the tree’s natural cycle; the kernels are dried traditionally in the sun; and the work of collecting and turning them into butter is done by women, who thus earn their own income and enjoy a certain measure of financial independence.

The Padina pavonica extract comes from harvesting this brown alga, also known as Peacock’s tail. The Padina pavonica used for our extract is grown in the Mediterranean. It is gently harvested by hand to avoid the use of any machines likely to damage the marine ecosystem. This harvesting is done when the alga has well-developed thalli, which contributes to their natural regeneration, year after year.

The packaging

Sisley works methodically to design high-quality, innovative packaging that is mindful of natural resources. Each product in the catalogue is examined in the light of the “4Rs” to ensure that its design is considered with a view to achieving the right weight (Reduction), Refillability, Recyclability and the use of Recycled material.

This product is mostly recyclable.
