Skin nutrition: your new daily routine

To glow, skincare needs two elements: hydration and nutrition. Some skin types have a greater need for both, such as dry skin, which is more sensitive to external elements such as the cold; they need a routine consisting of moisturising and skin nourishing products. But beautiful skin also requires a healthy lifestyle. It is essential to drink a lot of water, eat healthily and practise regular physical activity which allows the body to oxygenate itself and helps to improve the vitality of the skin.

Stay hydrated

The secret to moisturised, nourished skin? Water! While facial skincare offers many benefits, radiant skin is first and foremost hydrated from within. Remember to drink a lot of water at regular intervals throughout the day.

Gently cleanse your skin

Skin enrichment means treating it gently. Abrasive skincare products impair its hydrolipidic film (the natural barrier on your skin’s surface), leaving it less able to defend itself against external factors and drying it out. Choose mild skin nutrition products, preferably formulated without alcohol, and do not over-exfoliate: once a week and not more.

Protect your skin from the sun

Although it gives a healthy glow, the sun is an enemy of beautiful skin in the long term. UV rays damage it, promote the appearance of the visible signs of ageing and dark spots, and disrupt its balance. It is therefore essential to protect the skin from the sun whenever you are out in it.

Use expert skin nourishment products

Face masks, serums, balms and more, when it comes to facial skin enrichment, there are many products that provide skin with the hydration and nutrition it needs on a daily basis. To find your perfect routine, you should first determine your skin type (normal, dry, combination or oily) and its condition (dehydrated, sensitive...).

The secret to nourish skin? Water! While facial skincare offers many benefits, radiant skin is first and foremost hydrated from within. Remember to drink a lot of water at regular intervals throughout the day.

What is the perfect routine to moisturise the skin? In the morning, use a gentle toning lotion, a serum, a moisturising day cream and, if required, facial sun care to protect skin from the sun’s rays. In the evening, remove make-up and gently cleanse your skin with a cleansing balm or lotion, followed by a cleanser that respects the hydrolipidic film, then apply your serum and night cream.

Any questions?

How can you tell dehydrated skin and dry skin apart?

Dehydrated skin can be recognised by fine dehydration lines that appear on the face, particularly around the eye contour area, and by a lack of suppleness and brightness. To see if your skin is dehydrated, pinch the skin on the back of your hand and let go. If it is dehydrated, it will take a few seconds to return to its original position. If it is not, it will go back into place immediately. Dry skin is prone to feelings of tightness, discomfort and hotness. It may also have a tendency to peel. Its texture is even, with visible fine lines. Sometimes the face may look rough and the complexion may seem dull. As dry skin is less resistant to external aggressors, it may also be sensitive.

What are the signs of a lack of hydration or skin nutrition?

Skin becomes dull and is more prone to premature ageing. It also becomes less dense. Fine dehydration lines may appear, as may patches of flaking skin.

How do I moisturise and/or nourish my skin?

Start by drinking a lot of water and eating food rich in the essential nutrients needed for skin to function correctly. Combine this with rich and/or moisturising skincare to leave skin comfortable and supple.

Why are the signs of dehydration more visible around the eye contour area?

The skin of the eye contour area is especially thin and fragile. Consequently, it is quicker to show the signs of ageing or dehydration.

At what age should I use moisturising or nourishing skincare?

There is no particular age for moisturising and nourishing your skin. Whatever your age, the body is made up of 70% water, making it an essential component. However some skin types, such as dry skin, need more hydration and nutrition than others.

Can my skin be both dry and dehydrated?

Yes. Dry skin is a skin type, dehydration is a skin condition.

What is the difference between skin moisturising and skin nourishing?

Moisturising means adding water and nourishing means adding lipids. Dehydrated skin needs moisturisers capable of re-establishing and maintaining an ideal level of moisture. Dry skin, which suffers from a lack of hydration and nutrition, needs skincare suffused with both moisturising and lipid-replenishing key ingredients.
