How to choose your perfect perfume?
A fragrance is more than just a scent – perfumes are seen as a window to your soul so it’s a decision that’s rarely taken lightly. Choosing the right fragrance, the one that will fully express your style and personality, can sometimes seem a daunting task. By asking the right questions and identifying your favourite olfactory smell, finding your signature scent can be the adventure of a lifetime. Read our expert tips on how to find the one scent that resonates with you.

Tips on choosing the right fragrance
Learn about the different types of perfume
To choose the fragrance that best suits your needs and olfactory preferences, take a look at the different types of fragrances, which differ in their concentration: extrait de parfum, also known as pure perfume is powerful, assertive and lingers on the skin the longest. An eau de Cologne, on the other hand, has a subtle scent and is the most volatile. Between these two extremes are eau de parfum, intense but not as heady as an extrait de parfum, and eau de toilette, fresh and light, both of which last for several hours before fading away.
Work out your fragrance preferences
How can you choose a fragrance without knowing what you like? By working out which notes and olfactory families you like best, you can narrow down your search and find the scent that really suits you. Citrus, floral, woody, chypre... there is a fragrance for every taste.
Try it on your skin
After discovering the fragrance on a blotter, try it on your skin. Spray it on your wrists, but do not rub them together as this will distort the notes. Wait for the fragrance to develop before deciding on your first impression.
Take your time
A fragrance is meant to be lived! Before you decide, take the time to wear it for a few days in a row to make sure that you really like it. Do not hesitate to request samples in one of our boutique’s – that’s what they’re made for.

What is the best fragrance for women?
The best women’s fragrance is subjective and depends on your own tastes. Popular fragrances for women vary depending on the season, the occasion and personal preferences in terms of notes (floral, fruity, woody). Do not look for the best women’s fragrance – look for the best perfume for you.
Which fragrance is right for me?
When choosing a fragrance, it is worth looking at the different notes and olfactory families: you most probably already know the type of scents you like or do not like. For example, if you love fresh scents, choose fragrances with green, aquatic or citrus notes. If you prefer warm and sensual perfumes, try amber, spicy or powdery notes. If you happen to prefer men’s fragrances, select leather or woody notes. There is a fragrance for everyone and you are sure to find one that suits you.
As a woman, can I wear a men’s fragrance?
While fragrances are often split into “women’s”, “men’s” and “unisex”, a woman can definitely wear a men’s fragrance. Many people choose fragrances based on their favourite notes and olfactory families, ignoring gender labels.
Why does a fragrance smell different from one person to another?
It’s not your imagination – a single fragrance can develop differently on one person to another. These subtle variations in scent are caused by several factors: skin pH, skin type, hormonal balance, but also stress, heat, medication and even diet can change the way a fragrance presents itself, both permanently and temporarily. Trying the fragrance on your skin before investing is the best way to avoid disappointment.
Why can I not smell my fragrance any more?
If you can no longer smell the perfume you’ve been wearing for a long time, it’s definitely olfactory habituation: your nose has got used to it and your perception has simply changed. To enjoy its scent again, stop applying it! Take a break for a few days to allow your nose to become unaccustomed to it. You’ll be delighted to be reunited with your signature scent!
Should I change my fragrance with the seasons?
There’s no need to change your fragrance with the seasons, but it’s nonetheless a habit for many people. Fresh and light fragrances are often popular during summer, while rich, woody perfumes may be more appropriate for autumn and winter. Fragrance is a personal choice and depends on your own preferences.
Why does my fragrance not last?
The length of time a fragrance lasts can vary depending on skin type and hydration, fragrance concentration, application method and environmental conditions. To make your fragrance last, make sure to apply it to well hydrated skin, targeting the pulse points (neck, behind the ears, wrists), where the skin is warmest. You can also use the scented shower gel and body lotion from the same collection to make its trail last longer.
How should I keep my fragrance?
To preserve your fragrance and maintain its quality over time, store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and fluctuations in temperature.
How can I gift a fragrance that the recipient will like?
A fragrance makes a thoughtful gift but it is also risky because fragrance tastes are very personal. If you want to be sure to please, give the person a fragrance that they already wear or choose a creation that showcases their favourite notes and olfactory families. If you want to introduce them to a particular fragrance, ask for a sample of it when you make your purchase. If the fragrance doesn’t suit the recipient after they have used the trial size, they can exchange the unopened bottle.
