Brush your hair daily
Brushing is the ideal way to get rid of all the impurities and pollution particles that build up on your hair every day – but that’s not all it does. Brushing your hair daily, from the roots to the ends, pulls the scalp’s natural sebum down to the lengths, protecting the hair, closing the cuticle and leaving your hair looking glossier. Make sure to use an expert brush to gently detangle your hair.
Use specific products
Keeping hair beautiful also means protecting and nourishing it with expert haircare products. Use a nourishing shampoo, followed by a conditioner and apply an intense regenerating mask 2 to 3 times a week. Remember to apply a heat protection product before using hot styling tools.

If your hair needs nourishing, take care of it by using a haircare routine specifically tailored to the needs of your hair. Use a mild shampoo regularly to gently cleanse the scalp and lengths. Then apply a conditioner to smooth the cuticles and make styling easier. Distribute a small amount of product over the lengths, leave on for 2 to 3 minutes, then detangle your hair with a comb before rinsing. Complete your haircare routine with a regenerating mask and leave it on for at least 10 minutes; take the time to give your scalp a good massage, then rinse thoroughly. Haircare that restores and strengthens
Pre-shampoo products are particularly effective for deeply nourishing very dry hair. Before washing your hair with a gentle nourishing shampoo, apply a pre-shampoo balm once a week to restore, restructure and nourish damaged, dehydrated and brittle hair. Leave on for 30 minutes before shampooing, or all night long for a more intense action. Distribute the balm over the lengths and ends and particularly on any weakened areas. Then wet your hair and wash it as normal. After washing and before using any hot styling tools, apply a heat protection product, like a blow-dry or straightening cream, to damp or dry hair. Bonus tip: use it on dry hair as a nourishing product by distributing a small amount over the lengths and ends. Why is my hair dry?
Dry hair is deficient in sebum, whose role is to nourish the scalp. When it stops doing its job, the hair loses elasticity and becomes dry and brittle. It is left more vulnerable and splits more easily. The scales of the cuticle lift up, leaving the hair duller. This lack of sebum is often hereditary and is particularly the case for curly hair. However other factors may be behind the dry hair. Atmospheric causes like the sun, seawater and swimming pool water may be to blame. Daily hair styling may also dry out the hair, e.g. colouring hair too frequently, ill-suited haircare products, or using a hairdryer or straighteners on too hot a setting.
What is dry hair like?
Dry hair looks dull. It is generally fragile, not very elastic and quite brittle. It has split ends and is rough to the touch.
If my hair is curly or coily, does that mean it must be dry?
Some hair types are naturally dry, which is the case for curly, coily and kinky hair. The reason? Keratin is the protein that gives hair its structure by forming the scales of the cuticle, which determine the hair type. When the scales are tightly packed together, they give straight hair, but if they are further apart, they give coily or kinky hair and make hair dry. But keratin isn’t the only factor involved; lack of sebum is also responsible for hair dryness. The more curl hair has, the less able sebum is to spread uniformly from the root to the end.
How do I stop my hair from drying out?
Here are a few tips that will help you take care of your dry hair and transform it into glossy, healthy hair.
Go longer between washes. In the long term, washing your hair too frequently leads to a weaker scalp and scales and fosters hair dryness. To properly care for dry hair, top up on essential fatty acids, lipids and proteins. You can find them in shampoos and hair care products enriched with botanical oils (argan, sweet almond, jojoba) and shea butter, which are ideal for nourishing, strengthening and softening hair.
Dry your hair naturally. Air-drying if the best way to dry dry hair. If you use hot styling tools – e.g. a hairdryer, straighteners or curling irons – make sure you apply a heat protection product beforehand and add a few drops of hair oil after blow-drying to leave the lengths shiny and protect the ends.
Avoid aggressive colour treatments. If your hair is already dry, frequent colour or bleach treatments may weaken your scalp and dry out your hair fibres even more.
Protect your hair from external aggressors. To counteract the harmful effects of the sun, seawater and swimming pool water, take care of your lengths with a protective anti-UV product and wear an accessory on your head, like a scarf or a hat.
