The sun emits two main types of ultraviolet rays that affect skin: UVA and UVB.
UVA rays penetrate deep into skin and are responsible for premature skin ageing, wrinkles and loss of elasticity.
UVB rays act on the surface, causing sunburn and increasing the risk of skin cancer.
These invisible but powerful rays are present all year round, even on cloudy days. If you are going to be in the sun for a long time, it’s crucial to choose the right sun care to protect the health and youthfulness of your skin.
How to choose the right SPF
The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates the level of UVB protection: The higher the number, the greater the protection. The exposure conditions, your skin tone and your skin’s sensitivity to the sun should help you choose the right factor.
SPF 15: Suitable for dark skin or light sun exposure (city walks, cloudy weather).
SPF 30: Ideal for fair to medium skin or moderate sun exposure.
SPF 50/50+: Recommended for very fair or sensitive skin or intense sun exposure (beach, mountains).

The right way to apply sun care
Applying your sun cream correctly, whether it’s a face sun care or body sun care product, is just as important as choosing the right one.
Use the palm of your hand to measure the right amount to use: On each area (face and neck, back, chest), apply the equivalent of a thick line of cream extending from the tip of your middle finger to your wrist. Do not forget the back of your neck and your ears, hands and feet, which are just as vulnerable to UV rays and are often neglected.
In the event of prolonged exposure, reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming, perspiring or towelling off.
