Behind the Look: Velvet Skin & Moonlit Eyes

Ulla Johnson’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection Show enchanted audiences at New York Fashion Week, with Romy Soleimani once again showcasing her talent for glowing, natural makeup. Models graced the runway adorned with sheer yet statement metallic eye makeup and velvety skin, starring skincare-infused foundation and eyeshadow. The makeup looks beautifully complemented the collection, drawing from its glimmering hues and luxurious textures. Romy used a combination of makeup and skincare from Sisley Paris to flawlessly bring her vision to life!

1 - A Radiant Base

Skincare is arguably the most important step in creating a flawless complexion. The naturally radiant skin look is one of Romy’s signatures, and the perfect prep is essential to achieving this. She layers “hydrating creams and oils for a lit-from-within glow”, starting off by gently cleansing the skin with the Triple-Oil Balm Make-Up Remover And Cleanser followed by the Floral Toning Lotion. The Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream is the star of the show for its plumping & radiance-boosting properties. It helps lock in moisture for smooth skin. The final touch before makeup is the award-winning Nutritive Lip Balm, which deeply hydrates for soft and plump looking lips. Her meticulous skincare routine is key to a beautiful makeup application, giving models the perfect base!

2 - Pre-Show Sculpt

Romy uses the Ginkgo Gua Sha Massage Tool to sculpt the models’ faces, getting them revitalized and runway-ready. She applies the Black Rose Precious Face Oil first to ensure the Gua Sha smoothly glides across the skin, promoting circulation and radiance.

Romy's skin-prep secret? Keeping the Gua Sha on ice before massaging. It offers a refreshing sensation and aids in depuffing!

3 - Velvet Skin

For the coveted Velvet Skin look, Romy uses Sisley's skincare-infused complexion makeup. She starts off with Instant Eclat illuminating primer to create the perfect canvas. The NEW Phyto-Teint Perfection was her “go-to for the Ulla Johnson Fall/Winter '24 show”. Using the Fluid Foundation Brush, she applies a light layer of the foundation starting from the center of the face and gently blending outward. This technique ensures a light and even coverage. She finishes by patting in the foundation with her fingers, resulting in the product seamlessly melting into the skin for a natural finish. As Romy says, "This look is all about beautiful, perfect skin. Despite this being a full coverage formula, the radiant matte finish gives the skin a beautiful barely-there texture, on the runway, backstage and in real life."

4 - Moonlit Eyes

Romy creates a custom blend of Sisley eyeshadow for this stunning Moonlit Eyes look. Crushing and mixing Les Phyto-Ombres shades Glow Pearl and Glow Silver, she crafted a silver metallic wash reminiscent of moonlight. She delicately sweeps this blend over the upper eyelids with a brush for a sheer veil of color, illuminating the eyes. Using sweeping and patting motions to create a more lived in look, the artist avoids applying shadow directly to the lash line.
