How to care for your scented candles
Sisley scented candles are carefully crafted to offer a unique fragrance atmosphere and warm your home. Follow our guide to caring for your candles to keep the flame alive and maintain their effectiveness for as long as possible.
The importance of a successful first burn
When using your candle for the first time, it is crucial to let it burn for long enough – at least 2 hours – so that the entire surface of the wax melts evenly.
If you extinguish it too early, only the wax around the wick will melt, creating a tunnel in the candle. This phenomenon will prevent the edges of the wax from melting during subsequent use, wasting part of the candle and preventing optimal diffusion of its fragrance.
Choose the perfect spot for your candle
An ode to the refinement of a tone-on-tone design, the generous glass jar for Sisley candles takes on a transparent tint, in green for Campagne, burgundy for Rose and midnight blue for Tuberose, revealing a wax in a matching color. They will add a touch of elegance to your home.
However, beware of draughts, however slight, which can cause your candle’s flame to flicker, resulting in fast and uneven burning. Be sure to light your candle away from windows. Finally, always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface or in a candleholder to prevent the hot wax from leaving marks.

Cut and straighten the wick
An overly long wick can create too strong a flame, produce smoke or even soot. Cut to about 5 to 6 mm long for clean burning and pleasant fragrance diffusion.
After extinguishing your candle, be sure to recentre and straighten the wick so that it does not fall into the molten wax.

Use a candle snuffer
To limit excess smoke and avoid hot wax splashes, don’t blow out your candle! Extinguish it properly by holding a candle snuffer over the flame for five seconds.
Store your candle when not in use
To best maintain the quality and fragrance of your candle, store it in a cool, dry place when not in use. Ideally, it should be covered with a glass cloche or other means to protect it from dust and debris, which can alter the fragrance and prevent the wax from burning. It is also important to keep it away from direct sunlight, as this can spoil the wax and its fragrance.
If you notice condensation or dust on the surface, gently wipe it with a paper towel before lighting the candle.
