Ashley Streicher has been breaking rules since she was born. At age four, not allowed to play with scissors, she took to cutting her dolls hair with an overlooked letter opener. At 16, discontent with the
training available in the hills of Northern California, Ashley moved to New York to learn under the storied guided of Edward Tricomi. At 23, gainfully employed in the industry and having completed advanced training at Bumble and bumble as well as Toni & Guy, she still thirsted for a deeper understanding of hair. She hopped the pond to cut at the exclusive Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. At 27, Ashley moved to Los Angeles to be close to her family and immerse herself in
the entertainment and fashion landscape the city had to offer. Now, only a few years later, Ashley is one of the most sought-after hair stylists in the industry. Her light-handed approach to hair and a
penchant for braids and a natural aesthetic is a must-have for clients such as Emily Blunt, Carrie Brownstein, Abigail Spencer, Anne Hathaway, and Lily James. She has collaborated with photographers
such as Norman Jean Roy, Willy Vandeperre & Matthew Brookes. Her sought-after know-how has been featured in InStyle and W Magazine, and she is a contributor for Violet Grey. In November 2014, branching out beyond celebrity beautifying, Ashley opened a collaborative salon space, called STRIIIKE, with her sisters, eyebrow expert Kristie and celebrity makeup artist Jenn. Still ferociously passionate about hair and fashion obsessed, Ashley is a perfectionist when it comes to her craft – even she has to break all the rules to get there.
1.How did you fall in love with Sisley-Paris?
I think it’s really brilliant that Sisley - a skincare line - has come out with a hair care line. I think it only makes sense that healthy, beautiful hair starts at your scalp and not your root. I think it’s brilliant and I think it’s going to do so well and I’m so excited.
2. Who has had a major influence on your life or career?
I would have to say my two sisters. We’re in business together, I’m the youngest. We’re all in the beauty industry and I think we all have a big influence on each other. I’d have to say they’re my biggest everyday influence. They’re my mentors. I can always go to them with any questions or concerns and I think that’s very influential.
3. Where do you find inspiration?
I love traveling. I always find inspiration when I travel. I’m really lucky that I get to travel a lot for work. I always make it a point that if I’m ever in any new city I try to go see the local art museum. I also love being in nature- to be just be out hiking in the woods, or in the desert, or by the ocean. I always find inspiration in wilderness.
4. What is your favorite Hair Rituel Product and why?
Well I’ve been playing with them for a couple of weeks now and I always have rotating favorites, but right at moment I would have to say the Precious Hair Care Oil. I’ve been using it on myself but I’ve also been using it on clients when I’ve been cutting hair and blow drying. You can literally use it on everybody. It can hold up in super fine hair. I love it because it actually absorbs into the hair unlike other oils that tend to sit on top of the hair and make your hair heavy and greasy. I find this to be very very awesome. I’m excited about it.
5. What is a great hairstyle that can be created with one of the new products?
My current style using the Precious Hair Care Oil! I used a round brush and twirled it out. The oil ads shine to my hair and gives it great texture and hold, with the added benefit of volume.
6. Why are you excited about this new brand by Sisley-Paris?
I think it’s so brilliant for a skincare line to be launching a hair care line. I don’t know why it’s taken so long! It’s really important that healthy, amazing, natural hair comes out of a healthy scalp. Taking care of your scalp - using a daily serum, shampoo and conditioner- and treating your scalp to a proper daily skincare regimen is only logical as you mess with your hair daily. I can’t wait for this launch. I’m very excited about Hair Rituel.
7. How does it feel to be a part the #HairRituelSquad?
I’m very excited to be on the squad and I’d like to thank all of you for letting me be on the squad. Cheers!
What is the "Hair Rituel Squad"?
Prior to the launch of Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris, we selected a group of haircare experts to preview the coveted new line.
It was our hope that these trusted industry leaders would not only help to shape our vision for the new line, but that they would evaluate the products and inform us as to how they would plan to incorporate these products into their famed routines and daily practices.
Our goal was to begin to build a trusted community of talented experts who would have an ongoing relationship to the brand- an open line of communication through which to share their opinions, trial the products (on themselves and their clients) and provide us with their honest feedback.
