The Sisley Foundation

The Fondation Sisley-d\'Ornano was created in 2007 to provide a framework for charity events and sponsorships undertaken by the company. It is housed in the Fondation de France.


SOLIDARITY

ASSOCIATION FATHER GILBERT

For more than 30 years this Association, founded by Guy Gilbert, the “priest of rogues”, has sheltered young people at the Bergerie du Faucon from all kinds of backgrounds who are experiencing difficult situations, in order to help find them a place in society. The young people learn to live together, take care of animals, and are trained by a team of educators. In 2011, the Fondation Sisley funded the renovation and technical upgrading of the Bergerie du Faucon main building to allow it to continue operating.

NATURE AND ADVENTURE

This association, created by Didier Van Hofe, a teacher at the Gennevilliers High School, organizes trips, mainly to the Far North, for children from underprivileged backgrounds or with disabilities. The Fondation Sisley has supported these expeditions for four years. The most recent one was to Tierra del Fuego.

KIDS COMPANY

Founded in 1996, the mission of Kids Co is to help children from the underprivileged districts of London facing serious difficulties in their lives. In centers where the children can start to rebuild their lives, they receive comprehensive care: emotional environment, psychotherapy and classes (yoga, theater, dance, etc.). In 2012, the Fondation Sisley will help finance the operation of one of these centers; several Sisley UK employees have volunteered to help with the renovation work.

SUMBA FOUNDATION

This Foundation has been effectively fighting for 10 years in the remote villages of the Indonesian island of Sumba to combat malaria, lack of water, and its corollaries, poverty and malnutrition. The Fondation Sisley has funded a biodiesel center and a truck, and for several years an emergency food program for 120 children, plus the operation of a school cafeteria for 300 children. All these projects are followed up in the field each year.

HEALTH

ASSOCIATION OF ELISABETH ORNANO

This Spanish association, created by Elisabeth d’Ornano, has developed modules, with the help of experts, designed to better inform parents, teachers and pediatricians on attention and hyperactivity disorders among children and adolescents, and on the ways to effectively treat these disorders. The modules are available in three languages on the association’s website. Conferences and trainings have also been organized in schools. The Fondation Sisley supports its operations and projects.

ASSOCIATION MEDICALE FRANCO-ASIATIQUE (FRANCO-ASIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION)

By helping 11 hospitals and 19 medical care centers, mainly in Burma, this association has been fighting for many years to help the poor and the destitute of this country gain access to decent medical care. In 2012, the Fondation Sisley financed the operation of a medical care center.

BELLE ET BIEN

Dedicated to women following cancer treatment, this association consists of volunteers from the care and beauty industry who share the wish to “restore convalescent women’s positive vision of their lives.” Along with other industry brands, the Fondation Sisley supports the cosmetic care offered to patients in hospitals.

SISLEY-JÉRÔME LEJEUNE INTERNATIONAL AWARD

The Fondation Jérôme Lejeune is dedicated to persons suffering from genetic intelligence diseases and is the leading funder of French research in this field. The Fondation Sisley supports the Sisley-Jérôme Lejeune International Award for therapeutic research. In 2010, the award was given to the Spanish professor Mara Dierssen, and in 2011 to the American professor William Mobley.

RIFHOP – DOCTOR ANNE AUVRIGNON’S RESEARCH PROGRAM

At RIFHOP (Greater Paris Network of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology), Doctor Anne Auvrignon has developed a research program to improve the palliative care provided for children. Confronted with the tragedy and traumas specific to serious diseases among children, the medical community and care-givers are often at a loss. The purpose of this study is to help them improve the care they provide. Via the Fonds pour les Soins Palliatifs (Fund for the Palliative Treatments), the Fondation Sisley supported part of this study, which will be completed in 2013 and be circulated beyond the Greater Paris hospital network.


EDUCATION

FOUNDATION UN AVENIR ENSEMBLE

Sponsored by the Grande Chancellerie de la Légion d’Honneur, this foundation connects young high school students selected by their schools based on merit with a mentor who supports them throughout their studies, up to their first job. In addition to a financial contribution, six mentors from the Sisley company or the Fondation Sisley committee have been mentoring six mentees for the past three years.

INSEAD BUSINESS SCHOOL

For 15 years, the Sisley company and now the Fondation Sisley have funded a grant dedicated to highly deserving Polish students admitted to INSEAD. This program is not provided systematically each year: it depends on the quality of the candidacies presented by the school.

CULTURE

RESTORATION OF FRESCO ON DOME OF NOTRE-DAME DE L’ASSOMPTION (PARIS)

The Fondation Sisley has partnered with the French government, the Fondation du Patrimoine and the City of Paris, owner of the premises, to restore the fresco on the dome of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church. This church, located in the heart of the capital at 263 bis rue Saint Honoré, became the church of the Poles of Paris in 1844. The fresco was created in the XVIIth century by Charles Delafosse, a disciple of Le Brun and the designer of the frescos on the domes of the Invalides and the Château de Versailles chapel. The Fondation Sisley is funding approximately half the work, which is scheduled for completion in November 2013.

FUNDING OF A BELL FOR THE NOTRE DAME DE PARIS CHIME

For the 850th anniversary of Notre Dame de Paris, the cathedral chimes, which were partly dismantled during the French Revolution, will be recreated in their original state. It will include six bells and two large bourdons. The Fondation Sisley will fund the making of one of these bells, the Benoit-Joseph bell, which will be cast at the Cornille-Havard traditional smelting plant, located in the Manche (Normandy). The new line of bells will chime for the first time on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013.

FESTIVAL DE NOHANT (INDRE)

Since 1967, the Festival de Nohant plays host to great artists in the former sheep barn of the Georges Sand property in a tribute to romanticism through music and literature. The Fondation Sisley was one of the Festival partners in 2011-2012.

POUR QUE L\'ESPIRIT VIVE

"Pour Que l’Esprit Vive" was created to allow artists and intellectual to live out their passion. In 2012, the Fondation Sisley supported festivals organized at the artists’ residence of the Abbaye de la Prée (Indre). Proceeds go to the elderly and persons suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

OTHER PROJECTS SISLEY

LA BEAUTE IENT DE NOS QUARTIERS

With the Prefecture and the Chamber of Commerce of Val-d’Oise, where its own research center is located, Sisley is funding and participating in a cosmetics and beauty vocational training program during the 2012-2013 school year. This program is open to twelve women from the underprivileged districts of department 95, selected by a jury for their motivation and their ability to succeed. In one year, the students of the Sisley program prepare a work/study CAP (professional certificate) as a first step towards a job in the perfume industry.
